Masafi is a village located on the edge of the Hajar Mountains. The name "Masafi" in Arabic means "pure water". The village is well known for its natural springs and mango farms. Masafi is famous for its Masafi Friday Market or Souq al Juma’a, as it is known locally. The main items to bargain for are rugs, earthenware, carpets, mats, antiques and souvenirs.
Shamal area is considered the most fertile area in Ras Al Khaimah, being home to numerous date farms. It is also rich of monuments such as the Umm an-Nar Tomb and Sheba’s Palace which is also known as Zenobia’s Palace. Shamal people used to work in pottery many years ago.
Al Rams is located in the north of Ras Al Khaimah. It is famous for its forts which was destroyed by the Portuguese. Al Rams overlooks the sea and has a wonderful corniche and pristine beaches. Opposite to it there is the sandy island called Hulileh Island where Bedouins keep their camels especially in the summer when the temperature so high.
